With our hands in the soil we better understand our interdependence with nature and strive to be better stewards for this earth. The wondrous growth and life in the garden beds is another way to experience God's presence with us here on earth and to foster community, creativity and a place of peace.

Week of Aug 6 Volunteer Guide
There will likely be red tomatoes and what goes better than fresh basil. Harvest what you find and share at coffee hour on Sunday. Don't forget to look under the cucumber plant and to search for zucchini. Pull out the radishes and reseed with beets. Water as necessary and have a wonderful time watching the garden grow.
I would to see some of the pictures and hear some of the stories from your volunteer week. Post a comment with any of your musings.

Radishes - A win for pollinators
So I let the radishes go... they are flowering now. This is bad news for radish lovers but excellent news for our local pollinators. The flowers were a buzz with bees this week.

Tomatos!
Thanks to the Luedde family for taking great care of the garden these past two weeks! It is exploding with veggies. The tomatoes that were started by our Sunday School have taken off and taken over the garden. The tomato harvest should be good and starting in a few weeks. The bountiful tomatoes have shaded some of our other crops so we will be lucky if we get any peppers this year.
